Performance Venue at Hollywood Park-SoFi Stadium

Project Overview:

SoFi Stadium, located in Inglewood, California, had finished construction in 2020 and is the new $5 billion home for two NFL teams:  Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams.  The open-air SoFi Stadium is the first indoor-outdoor stadium to be constructed and the NFL's largest at 3.1 million square feet.  Situated under the one monumental roof canopy, three state-of-the-art venues - the 70,000-seat SoFi Stadium, the 2.5-acre covered outdoor American Airlines Plaza and a 6,000-seat performance venue - can simultaneously host different events. 

The 298-acre sports and entertainment destination brought some challenges to architects, HKS, as they were asked to design an iconic revolutionary stadium destination and experience worthy of Los Angeles.  The architects were also challenged by height regulations due to the stadium's proximity to LAX just three miles away.

The sweeping coastline, the beauty, and strength of the Pacific Ocean contribute to the clean and dramatic curves of the stadium's unmistakable architecture that mirrors the region's indoor-outdoor lifestyle.  The stadium's translucent roof, seating bowl (which sits 100-feet underground), concourses, and landscape were sculpted and designed to create the feel of an outdoor venue while providing the flexibility of a traditional domed stadium.

SoFi Stadium will host Super Bowl LVI in 2022, the 2023 College Football Playoff Championship Game, and will host the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games.  SoFi Stadium is also a leading contender to host World Cup matches in 2026.

VT’s Contribution:

VT's Commercial Operations team was tasked with sourcing, templating, and installing six different colors of Italian Quartz throughout areas of the Performance Venue at Hollywood Park-SoFi Stadium.  These different areas include luxury box tops, VIP drink rails, VIP restrooms, public restrooms, stair treads, office area tops, and guest services.

VT's Architectural Wood Door Division also contributed to the SoFi stadium project, manufacturing 113 flush wood doors.
