Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh
Project Features
- Doors with extended fire ratings up to 90 minutes were required to meet code inside the hospital.
- The high-traffic corridors required doors with enhanced durability and scuff resistance.
Project Overview:
The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UMPC includes 9 floors of inpatient and outpatient care, a 41-bed emergency room, 79-bed critical care unit, 13 operating suites, and state-of-the-art nursing workstations. A 10-story research center, faculty pavilion, and administrative office building complete the campus.
Building Challenge:
The hospital required a door solution that fulfilled the architect’s design vision in a wide variety of applications. The doors also needed to address the heightened demands of the healthcare setting.
VT’s Contribution:
VT Industries supplied over 3,000 Architectural Wood Doors for the hospital. Plain Sliced White Maple veneers were selected both for flush and stile & rail doors.
