The April Sampson Cancer Center (ASCC) is transforming cancer care in the state of Nebraska. This new state-of-the-art center was constructed with the patient in mind. From every design choice to the comprehensive services offered, the ASCC has changed the way patients interact, receive treatment, and heal through their cancer journey.
The cancer center project was unveiled in late 2020 after John Sampson, President of Sampson Construction, and his daughter Cori Vokoun, Vice President of Sampson Construction, donated 29 acres of land for the facility. The center is named after April Sampson, John’s wife and Cori’s mother, who lost her life in 2016 after bravely battling breast cancer for decades.
In the spring of 2024, April Sampson Cancer Center opened their doors and Cancer Partners of Nebraska welcomed patients for the first time. Cancer Partners of Nebraska were able to consolidate two Lincoln locations upon moving to the new 140,000 square foot facility. This allows patients to receive all their care at the ASCC, which often includes multiple meetings and specialist visits over the course of their treatment.
In addition to the latest, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, gynecologic, radiation, and theragnostic treatments, there are physical and occupational therapies available, as well as an on-site pharmacy and laboratory, a medical equipment store, a café, and a spa that provides manicures, pedicures, massages, facials, and acupuncture. To round out the patient experience, the site features beautiful meditation rooms, walking trails, a scenic pond, large floor to ceiling windows with beautiful views, and healing arts. There are also a variety of counseling services available to address mindbody connection as a powerful component of healing.
