PROJECT OVERVIEW:
Philadelphia’s American Red Cross Blood, Platelet, and Plasma Donation Center in Philadelphia has renovated its headquarters at 700 Spring Garden Street to centralize services, enhance operations, and better serve the community.
BUILDING CHALLENGE:
As a medical facility, donor and staff wellbeing are always a priority, however as a bustling hub and headquarters facility for the organization, performance was also a key factor. The interiors needed to be warm and inviting and be a place where patients feel comfortable while maintaining their privacy. In addition, the doors needed to be able to withstand the rigors of a bustling medical environment and accommodate a variety of hardware preps for security between the public and private zones within the building.
VT’S CONTRIBUTION:
VT Industries partnered with Unified Door and Hardware Group, located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to manufacture 23 flush wood veneer doors for the renovation project. These flush wood veneer doors featured SCLS cores and 5-ply construction as well as rotary cut White Birch veneers and VT’s chocolate factory finish.
